How long have you been a Barrington Chamber Member? 1968

History of business:  Our firm began in the early 1900’s as Gold Star Motor Service and we handled general freight within the Midwest, primarily between Detroit and Chicago.  A large amount of both raw and finished goods were moved to and from the Jewel Tea headquarters in Barrington and other area plants.  Household moving was also a service that was offered.  The freight part of the business was sold in 1956 and ADCO was established as a household goods and specialized carrier.  We serviced many of the corporations in the northwest suburbs by providing air-ride freight service and full service employee relocation.  As part of the United Van Lines family, we are able to service clients across the country and around the world.  We continue to offer local, long distance and international moving and storage services as well as specialized transportation for commercial equipment.

How has the Chamber assisted in the growth of your business?  Our membership has always been a reflection of our commitment to service the needs of the local community.  We believe that our membership has helped us to promote our core business and it is also a reflection our involvement in the community. 

What is your business niche?  Specialized transportation services - residential and commercial moving.  We handle local moving and storage but mostly long distance relocations through our affiliation with United Van Lines.  We also offer international shipping and self service moves through SAM, our on site container service.  We offer a full range of transportation solutions.
