Volunteers Needed at Brewfest
The Barrington Area Council on Aging is seeking volunteers to assist with the Barrington Brew Fest scheduled for Saturday, July 8 from 3-7 p.m. Three volunteer shifts are available: Setup from 9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., 1:30-5:00 p.m. or 5:00-8:30 p.m. Volunteers can sign up for one or more shifts. The Barrington Brew Fest is an important fundraiser for BACOA and benefits its many support groups, services and its active aging programs. Veterans of LBS Present “The History of Women in Military”
College of DuPage President, Navy Vice Admiral (retired) Ann Rondeau will speak on “The History of Women in the Military” at Lake Barrington Shores on Tuesday, June 21. The evening will begin with opening remarks by Veterans of LBS President Tom Gilder, and will end the evening with coffee and cake. Please plan to arrive prior to 7:00 p.m. for seating, as they are anticipating a great turnout to hear Dr. Rondeau on this very timely issue. Splashpad Opens in Barrington
Donors and their families were invited to a special Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, June 10th to officially open the new Barrington Park District Splashpad.
The Freddie Herriman Pederson Splashpad will be open to the community at no charge in the mornings before the pool opens from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon, and from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the evening. The Splashpad was built by the community with a focus on all members of the community no matter their age, mobility or income. The Splashpad is located at the park district aquatic center, 235 Lions Dr., Barrington.
