Run the Shores for Charity at Lake Barrington 5K
The Lake Barrington Shores Community, 64 Old Barn Rd., is hosting the 7th annual 5K race and 1 mile fun run/walk on Saturday, September 16, at 8:00 a.m benefiting the Cuba Township Food Pantry and Cuba Cares, a 501c3 to help local families and individuals in need of assistance. The event will begin at the Market Place Shopping Center located at Rt. 59 and Kelsey Road. Runners and walkers will wind their way around the Lake Barrington Shore’s picturesque community on a USATF certified course which includes a route around the Village’s namesake lake and through a private forest preserve. Fee is $20 for adults ($25 on race day) and $10 for kids.
VFW Sloppy Joe Dinner is Sept. 16
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7706 will hold its Annual Sloppy Joe Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Barrington Park District Fitness and Recreation Center, 235 Lions Dr. in Barrington. Part-time Chemistry Teacher Opening at Elgin Academy
Elgin Academy, 350 Park St. in Elgin, is seeking candidates to teach Chemistry and Honors Chemistry courses during a maternity leave from October 30, 2017 through February 2, 2018.
